01 Jul U.S. Supreme Court Finds No Section 2 Voting Rights Act Violation in Arizona Case
on 07/01/2021 in Case News & Commentary
In a 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court determined that an Arizona law limiting who can collect and deliver completed ballots did not violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The Court also determined that another Arizona law preventing the counting of provisional ballots cast by voters in the wrong precinct did not violate the same section of the Voting Rights Act. The Court reversed the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which had found error in the district court’s analysis. For more details, see the case of Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee.
